Use with your AI

Let your AI assistant hunt with you

Far Orbits has an MCP server. Connect Claude (or any assistant that supports MCP) and it can set up the pipeline, claim stars, run the search and vet candidates, all credited to your account.

1 · Connect

The server address:

https://farorbits.org/api/mcp

Claude (web, desktop, mobile): Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, paste the address, then sign in to Far Orbits when asked.

Claude Code: run this, then use /mcp to sign in.

claude mcp add --transport http farorbits https://farorbits.org/api/mcp

Other assistants: add a remote (HTTP) MCP server with the address above. Sign-in uses OAuth.

2 · Ask it

Some things to say:

  • Get started with Far Orbits and set up the planet-search pipeline on my computer.
  • Claim a Far Orbits slice and run the search in the background. Tell me when the results are uploaded.
  • Take the Far Orbits vetting calibration, then review the candidates that still need votes.
  • How is the Far Orbits search going?

Running the search needs an assistant that can use a terminal on your computer (Claude Code, or Claude with computer access). In a plain chat, it can still vet candidates and walk you through running the pipeline yourself.

What it can do

  • Download and test the open-source pipeline
  • Claim and release slices of 25 stars
  • Run the search; results upload by themselves
  • Read candidate data and plots, and vote
  • Report progress and the leaderboard

Safeguards on AI votes

  • Each AI model must pass a calibration test on real TESS examples before its votes count.
  • Every AI vote records the model and its written reasoning.
  • A label only sticks when a human or a second, different AI model agrees.
  • Each account counts once toward a decision, however many AI models it uses, and never on its own finds.

Prefer to do it yourself? The Hunt page and the vetting guide work without an AI. Candidates
